The After Work Chef

Dear After Work Chefs,

Welcome! I'm Christin, a busy working (fairly) newlywed who loves to cook and eat wonderful meals. We are lucky enough to live in NYC where we can enjoy some of the best restaurants in the world. But we also love to cook and enjoy our home. So, as often as I can, I make use of the inspiration the city provides and I cook for us when I get home from work. The challenge is, like most New Yorkers, I work a lot and have limited time for shopping and cooking.

This is how I work it out: Almost all of our dry goods and meats come from Fresh Direct. I go to my neighborhood farmer's market on Saturdays for produce and do almost no grocery shopping outside of this. Fina
lly, I usually do a little project over the weekend in the spirit of making our meals a bit more special during the week.

I have created this blog in celebration of busy people preparing delicious meals and treating themselves well at home.

I hope you will enjoy it.
Christin

  1. Love this! Half the battle is just coming up with fresh dinner ideas, so I'll just steal yours! Where is your farmer's market? And for a weekend project, I definitely recommend the Romesco sauce in the back of Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc cookbook. It's seriously delicious with fish, veggies, chicken, anything. I freeze it in little one-meal batches for something special and quick on a weeknight.

  2. Thanks for the suggestion. What a fantastic idea to freeze the sauce for use during the week! I use the East 67th Street market. Nothing fancy, but a couple of good farm stands for produce, eggs, and chickens (if you get there in time!).
